Are you an experienced technician with a passion for manufacturing orthotic devices? Join our team at Peke Waihanga, where you’ll play a key role in fabricating, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of custom orthotic solutions to prescription.

We have a new vacancy for an orthotic technician to join and friendly and highly skilled team in the Auckland Centre

About Us:

Peke Waihanga is a leading healthcare organisation providing prosthetic, orthotic and rehabilitation services to patients across New Zealand. Our vision is 'independent and productive lives for the people we care for'. We are a specialist healthcare provider that manufactures high technology medical devices, (mainly prosthetics and orthotics), for individual patients, with an integrated rehabilitation and coordination of care service. Our culture is down to earth, yet dynamic as we continue to grow and innovate.

As an Orthotic Technician, you will be responsible for the hands-on manufacture of orthotic devices such as:

  • Foot orthoses (insoles, arch supports)
  • Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs)
  • Knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs)
  • Upper limb orthoses (wrist, elbow, shoulder supports)
  • Specialised paediatric devices

You’ll work with a variety of materials, including:

  • Thermoplastics (polypropylene, polyethylene)
  • Metals (aluminium, stainless steel)
  • Carbon fibre composites
  • Foams and leathers
  • Modern laminates and resins

Our technicians are problem-solving experts, regularly presented with complex manufacturing challenges and encouraged to innovate for optimal device function and appearance. For this role we are seeking an experienced technician with strong attention to detail who is highly motivated to provide the very best solutions for the people we care for.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have hands-on experience in the manufacture of orthotic devices, ideally across a range of device types and materials
  • Apply a high standard to all your work
  • Notice inefficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Enjoy keeping up to date with new technologies
  • Engage with others to share knowledge and innovation
  • Have a genuine desire to enhance patient satisfaction and quality of life

An interest in newer technologies such as CAD and 3D printing will be beneficial for this role.

Why Join Us?

Peke Waihanga offers a supportive and flexible work environment, with ongoing education and professional development. Benefits include 23 days annual leave, free health checks and flu vaccinations, health insurance discounts, up to 4% employer KiwiSaver contribution, and more.

We are accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand and can support a straight to residency visa.
