Motus Hydraulics is a leading New Zealand manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders, supplying OEM customers across NZ, Australia, Canada and the USA. With increased production volumes and a strong focus on world-class quality, we are expanding our team with a skilled and detail-focused Quality Control Technician. This is a hands-on QC role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability and performance of every cylinder that leaves our factory.

About the Role
As our Quality Control Technician, you will play a key part in our quality assurance process — from inwards inspection through to hydraulic pressure testing and final dimensional checks. You’ll work closely with production, welding and machining teams to ensure cylinders meet Motus standards and customer specifications. This role suits someone who takes pride in precision, has strong mechanical understanding, and enjoys working in a structured, process-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform hydraulic pressure testing of completed cylinders
• Conduct visual inspection and functional checks
• Identify leaks, pressure loss, performance issues or assembly faults
• Record test results and ensure documentation is completed accurately
• Measure and verify critical dimensions (stroke, retracted length, mounting widths, pin sizes, threads etc.)
• Confirm tolerances and correct component installation
• Inspect incoming raw materials and purchased components
• Check certificates of conformity and supplier compliance
• Report defects and raise non-conformance reports
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions
• Follow standardised QC processes and contribute to improvements

What You’ll Bring:
• Experience in a mechanical, engineering, QC or manufacturing role
• Understanding of hydraulic systems or mechanical components (preferred)
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Confident using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good paperwork and documentation discipline
• A proactive mindset and ability to work independently
• Physically fit and comfortable in a workshop environment

Why Join Motus?
• Stable, long-term manufacturing role
• Work with hydraulic products used across multiple industries
• Supportive team culture focused on quality and improvement
• Opportunities to upskill in hydraulics and QC procedures
• Be part of a company investing in better processes, people and equipment
