Role summary

As a Data Specialist at Caruso, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming how fund managers onboard and operate through data. Our platform is scaling rapidly, and your work will be integral to building a high-performance, AI-augmented data engine that supports scalable, repeatable implementation processes. You will collaborate with our Implementation and Customer Success teams to develop robust data workflows that streamline how client data moves from legacy systems to Caruso.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, tech-driven environments and wants to shape the operational backbone of a company undergoing rapid growth. You’ll work with automation-first principles, help establish tooling that scales across hundreds of clients, and contribute directly to building a next-gen data engine that enables our implementation pipeline to operate like a production line.

What you'll do:

Work with Implementation and Customer Success to understand client requirements and execute migration plans tailored to each onboarding.
Validate, clean, and transform legacy datasets for ingestion into the Caruso platform, ensuring completeness and fidelity.
Partner with technical teams to productise and scale migration tooling, templates, and processes that enable rapid, reliable client onboarding.
Identify repetitive tasks and build automation to improve throughput and reduce manual load.
Maintain internal knowledge bases and documentation to enable consistent execution and future-proof the data migration pipeline.
Continuously contribute insights from data migration work into Caruso’s broader data tooling and automation framework - so future implementations become faster, more accurate, and more autonomous.

What we’re looking for

2+ years of experience in data migration or data engineering, ideally in a SaaS or high-growth environment focused on scale and automation.
Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential.
Strong understanding of data structures, legacy systems, and a range of data formats and ETL concepts.
Experience collaborating with technical teams to build repeatable workflows and with implementation/customer teams to deliver high-quality migrations.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially under time constraints.
A process-oriented mindset with a passion for efficiency, automation, and high-volume data operations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits

Comprehensive health insurance with Southern Cross.
Enjoy our premium office space with luxury fit-out and water views all within close proximity to Auckland's best bars and cafes.
Workstation package including Macbook Pro, dual screens, Apple peripherals, Airpod Pro noise-cancelling headphones.
5 weeks annual leave after 2 years tenure, 6 weeks of annual leave after 3 years tenure.
Unlimited sick leave.
Generously extended maternity/paternity leave.
