Contented, one of New Zealand's fastest growing startups, is looking for a creative UI/UX designer who has a strong visual design sense and a clear understanding of user-centric design.

This is foundational work. You'll shape how thousands of businesses interact with their most valuable asset - conversations - and turn them into the world's best documentation that actually gets used.

While we’re looking for talented designers, junior designers are welcome (portfolio matters just as much as experience).

What you'll do

• Conduct user research to understand what's working and what's not
• Map current user flows and identify friction points
• Foundational design work - redesign our workflow architecture so the workflow becomes obvious
• Define interaction patterns and navigation structures that make features discoverable when users need them (not through training docs)
• Solve our "prep paradox" - making necessary setup work feel worth doing for our users
• Create wireframes and functional prototypes in Figma
• Build clear visual hierarchy that guides users through their journey
• Fix the fundamentals: spacing, alignment, typography, responsive behaviour, interaction states, error handling
• Work directly with our Co-Founder, Product Manager and Customers to validate, iterate, ship

Your background looks something like

• 3+ years designing complex workflows, enterprise tools, or multi-step experiences
• Experience with SaaS, B2B tools, or productivity applications
• Proficient in Figma for wireframing and functional prototyping or alternative tools
• Familiarity using AI
• Deep knowledge of UX best practices, patterns, and when to break them

• Rate: Competitive day rate based on experience.
