Description

Dawn Aerospace is seeking a Purchasing and Logistics Officer to take ownership of the purchasing and warehouse activities for our in-space propulsion systems in the Netherlands. You will also be responsible for the logistics of delivering our products to the customer and the exchange of goods between our offices in New Zealand and the Netherlands.

You will work closely with our project and production managers to ensure timely availability of all components and parts needed for the production orders.

You will place orders and follow up with suppliers to clear any blocking points and guarantee timely delivery. You will manage receiving goods and sending goods. You will manage the warehouse and the data regarding the location of parts in our ERP system. You will assist our engineers and project managers with the specification of the parts to be ordered. This can either be a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) item or a custom-made part.

You will be given ownership of goals from start-to-finish. You must have the ability and desire to work in a young company. If you want a narrow, thoroughly defined, smooth and routine role, this is not for you. We believe in giving you the tools you need, then getting out of your way.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor Dawn Aerospace purchasing in the Netherlands.
    • Import bills of materials into the ERP system and make a purchase and supply planning for new production orders
    • Ensure the production and technical teams get the goods they need at the time they need them.
    • Placing orders and administrative follow-up by handling and registering of purchase orders and delivery tracking.
    • Liaise with suppliers and resolve any issues.
    • Manage supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure that all supply chain activities comply with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Inventory management & internal logistics
    • Goods receiving
    • Stock keeping, both physically and in the ICT system(s). Tracking (future) parts consumption and managing resupply of standard parts.
    • Supplying the production departments just in time for them to do their work
  • External logistics
    • End-to-end transport of goods between the Netherlands and the New Zealand site.
    • Ensure successful shipping of customer deliveries anywhere in the world.
  • Coordinate with your New Zealand colleagues on shared projects and processes.
  • Assist in continuously improving the supply chain processes

Requirements

  • At least a keen interest in technology and/or experience in a technical purchasing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and make things happen autonomously.
  • You can work with limited instruction and exceed expectations.
  • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management or comparable is appreciated.
  • Previous experience in managing vendors and suppliers.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to maintain a very high level of accuracy.
  • Keen to manipulate hardware, stocking and packaging it.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to keep an overview.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in English, Dutch is a plus.
  • Self-starter, fast learner who needs little direction.

Note that the role is a permanent position that will start with a fixed-term contract of 12 months.

    Our Mk-II Aurora spaceplane demonstrator has completed over 50 successful flights and we recently completed campaigns utilising our in-house rocket engine. Mk-II is unique in that it combines the performance of a rocket and the rapid reusability and economic model of an aircraft.

Our international teams are distributed across four locations: the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, and the USA.
