Auckland, New Zealand

About the Role
We’re looking for a Director of Talent to lead the next chapter of Halter’s growth
As a senior leader within both the People & Performance team and the wider business, you’ll be responsible for building and executing a global talent strategy that ensures we attract, hire, and retain world-class talent at scale. You’ll work closely with our our leaders to deeply understand team needs, anticipate organisational shifts, and design scalable hiring solutions that support our growth.
You’ll be responsible for both the architecture and the engine of Talent Acquisition (TA) across the company. That means leading the global TA team, optimising process and systems, partnering with leaders to deeply understand hiring needs, and creating a hiring experience that reflects the calibre of our product and our mission.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and leadership — owning everything from workforce planning and global team buildout to recruitment operations and candidate experience. You’ll shape not only how we hire, but how we think about talent across the business.
We fundamentally believe the biggest driver of company success will be the speed and quality of our hiring. It sets the foundation for everything else that we do to achieve our ambitious mission.

What your day will look like

  • Talent Acquisition Strategy & Leadership: Own and execute a global talent strategy that supports rapid scaling across regions and functions. Partner with the executive team to forecast hiring needs, workforce planning, and strategic org design. Translate company growth goals into an actionable and aligned talent roadmap
  • Team Buildout & Management: Build, lead, and scale a high-performing global Talent Acquisition team. Define clear roles, success metrics and operating rhythms across the TA function. Coach and develop team members, while continuously raising the bar for performance and impact.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement scalable recruitment infrastructure including ATS, workflows, reporting and analytics. Own key hiring KPIs — from time-to-fill and candidate quality to hiring manager performance and retention metrics. Drive continuous improvement in how we hire, using data to inform and optimise every part of the funnel.
  • Candidate Experience: Design and embed a consistent, exceptional candidate experience that reflects our culture and values. Build processes that are efficient, inclusive, and ensure every candidate interaction adds to our brand. Partner with Brand/Marketing to amplify our employer brand across key channels and talent pools.
  • Business Partnering & Coaching: Act as a trusted advisor to business and functional leaders on hiring, team design, and talent planning. Train and enable hiring managers to assess talent effectively and run great hiring processes. Champion a performance and values-aligned approach to hiring at every level.
  • DEI & Internal Mobility: Embed diversity, equity and inclusion into all hiring practices and talent strategies. Partner with People Operations and L&D to support internal mobility, succession planning and career pathways.
  • We’re a fast moving, growth company, so from time to time, other responsibilities will pop up that you will need to take on!

Who are we looking for?

  • 10+ years in talent acquisition, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles, ideally in high-growth or global tech environments
  • Proven experience building and scaling high-performing teams across multiple regions
  • Strong operational mindset — capable of designing systems that scale and solve for complexity
  • Strategic partner who can zoom in and out: from exec-level workforce planning to day-to-day hiring excellence
  • Deep understanding of global hiring markets and the nuances of hiring across different geographies
  • Strong, passionate Leader - Proven people manager that can build high-performing teams that achieve remarkable outcomes

Our Office First Approach
There’s a reason you visit your friends in person, live with your family and don’t do dinners over Zoom. Humans are wired for connection. We believe a world-class, in-person office culture is the best way for high-performing teams.
Being office first is a core pillar of our culture. We believe in-person connections are key to driving your own growth, learning, impact, and building genuine long-lasting relationships. Strong relationships make it easier to disagree, give feedback, and do meaningful and aligned work. We don’t like having heaps of rules or policies, but this means having strong, trusted relationships is critical.
We’re office first, not office only. This means working from the office everyday is our default setting, but we flex when we need to. We have a high-trust culture, so everyone is trusted to do what’s best for Halter.
Our office vibe is something special, it’s hard to describe until you’re here, but people at Halter who have come from fully remote or hybrid companies say they could never go back - the high energy and spectacular people they are now surrounded by everyday makes work so enjoyable. Your growth, your learning and your impact is truly unlimited here, and a big part of that comes from being together solving problems, innovating, building context, and constantly learning from each other.
