Hnry is growing quickly across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. As we scale, we need to continue building practical, effective, and scalable risk and compliance processes that support our customers and our business.
This role plays a key part in Hnry’s risk and compliance function. Working closely with our Head of Legal & Compliance, you will help strengthen our compliance framework, provide second line oversight of operational compliance activities, and support the business to meet its regulatory obligations.
You’ll be someone who enjoys balancing compliance requirements with practical business outcomes - identifying risks, improving processes, and helping teams make confident decisions in a fast moving environment.
🚀 Responsibilities
Review and provide quality assurance over compliance operations, including customer due diligence (CDD), AML/CTF decisions, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting.Provide second line oversight, constructive challenge, and guidance to operational teams to ensure compliance obligations are effectively managed.Identify trends, control gaps, and systemic issues across compliance activities and escalate findings to the Head of Legal & Compliance.Track remediation actions and improvements through to completion.Review and approve material compliance decisions or escalate where appropriate based on risk and regulatory impact.Support the ongoing operation and continuous improvement of Hnry’s risk and compliance framework across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.Prepare structured risk and compliance reporting for the Head of Legal & Compliance and broader stakeholders.Lead periodic compliance control reviews and assess the effectiveness of existing processes and controls.Monitor regulatory developments, including AML/CTF requirements, and assess their impact on Hnry’s operations.Support the preparation, review, and submission of regulatory reports, disclosures, and compliance documentation.Oversee customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and other financial crime compliance processes to ensure they remain effective and consistent.Conduct internal compliance reviews and ensure policies, procedures, and documentation remain accurate and up to date.Review proposed process changes from compliance operations and provide guidance to ensure appropriate risk management.Drive improvements to compliance processes, controls, and ways of working as Hnry continues to scale.unnamed (2).png

🫵 You will:
Have 5+ years’ experience in risk, compliance, AML/CTF, assurance, or a related discipline within a regulated environment.Have experience providing second line oversight, assurance, or challenge to operational teams.Have experience with AML/CTF obligations, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting.Be comfortable operating autonomously and making risk-based decisions on complex matters.Have experience reviewing controls, identifying risks, and driving improvements.Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.Have a relevant qualification in Law, Commerce, Finance, Risk, Compliance, or a related field.Bonus points for the following:
Experience within fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.Experience working with AUSTRAC or Australian financial crime obligations.Professional certifications such as ACAMS, CAMS, ICA, FINSIA, or equivalent.Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions.Experience being self-employed.💪 How we work

Salary banding: $130,000 - $145,000 per annum
