Hnry is growing quickly across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom. As we grow, our risk and compliance processes need to evolve with us, staying practical, proportionate, and scalable.
This role sits at the centre of Hnry's compliance control environment. You will provide a second-line perspective on operational compliance work - reviewing, challenging, and quality-assuring the outputs of our compliance operations - ensuring we consistently meet our obligations as a Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) authorised agent - while also owning broader compliance responsibilities. You will report directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance.
🚀 Responsibilities
Review and quality-assure the work of compliance operations, including incident investigations, KYC/AML and EDD decisions, and regulatory reporting.Identify patterns or systemic issues across operations and escalate findings to the Head of Legal & Compliance.Track remediation actions through to completion.Approve or escalate material compliance decisions before they are actioned.Manage the ongoing operation of Hnry’s risk and compliance framework across the UK (and supporting NZ and AU).Prepare and present structured risk reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance.Lead periodic control effectiveness reviews and horizon-scan for regulatory change.Support the operational oversight of AML or Financial Crime Compliance and other regulatory processes.Oversee and monitor customer due diligence, monitoring, and related processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness.Prepare and coordinate required regulatory reports and disclosures, ensuring appropriate internal review and approval prior to submission.Monitor regulatory developments across the FCA and assess operational impacts.Conduct internal reviews ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.Review and approve process changes proposed by compliance operations before implementation, and drive your own enhancements, in consultation with the Head of Legal and Compliance.Ensure documentation and procedures remain current, accurate, and fit for a multi-jurisdictional environment.unnamed (2).png

🫵 You will:
5 plus years’ experience in risk, compliance, AML, or assurance within a regulated environment.Demonstrated experience providing compliance oversight or second-line assurance of operational teams.Comfortable operating with significant autonomy and making risk-based calls on matters of genuine complexity.Experience with AML processes and regulatory reporting.Highly organised with strong attention to detail.Confident identifying issues and escalating appropriately.Clear and professional communicator.Degree in Law, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.Bonus points for the following:
Familiarity with regulatory environments in Australia or New Zealand.A postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g. ICA Certificate/Diploma in AML, ACAMS, CAMS, or equivalent).Experience in fintech, financial services, or a high growth environment.Prior experience being self-employed💪 How we work

Salary banding: £72,000 - £76,000 per annum
