Works closely with: Co-working space tenants, Community Manager (Co-working Space), suppliers and vendors and service contractors

This role:

As our Barista & Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in developing our co-working space into a vibrant and engaging entrepreneurial crossroads. Our mission is to create a co-working and events space that hosts dozens of events, hundreds of meetings, and thousands of visitors per year.

Your role is to (1) provide the best Flat White in town – one that lures our community into the space for meetings, (2) manage the co-working facility including keeping the space looking sharp, supporting tenants, managing suppliers, coordinating maintenance, and welcoming guests arriving in the space, (3) support with events hosted by Icehouse Ventures and others in the space.

This is a role for an individual that gets joy from delivering great customer service and has true pride of place. Our goal is to find a team member that is proactive, honest, energetic, and positive.

This role also offers significant opportunities for career development. Success would see a team member cover all core responsibilities (running the café, maintaining the space, supporting tenants, and helping with events) with time to spare to learn about venture capital investing, connect with prominent investors, and learn from New Zealand’s leading entrepreneurs. (Fun fact: Icehouse Ventures Partner Jack McQuire was a barista when he started interning with us.)

Key Responsibilities

Facilities & space management: Take ownership of the day-to-day presentation and functionality of the co-working space. Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify and resolve issues before they are flagged. Log, triage, and follow through on maintenance requests. Coordinate relationships with suppliers, contractors, and vendors. Troubleshoot day-to-day AV and technology issues (Wi-Fi, meeting room screens, equipment) and escalate where needed. Work closely with the Business Operations Manager on space improvements.

Community support: Be a visible, approachable presence for tenants and guests throughout the day, handling first-touch requests with warmth and efficiency, and actively contributing to a space culture that makes people want to come in.

Health & safety: Support health & safety obligations across the space, including regular checks, documentation, and compliance. Serve as a First Aider and Fire Warden (training provided if needed).
