Marloo is an AI-assistant that empowers financial advisers to focus on what matters: building client relationships and growing revenue. We are building an AI-native system of record to shift advisers from "doers" to "reviewers” by being hyper-specialised for financial advice.

At a glance
Job Title: Founding Engineer.
Location: Wellington, New Zealand.
Salary range: NZ$100-$140k+ depending on experience. Exceptions on a case-by-case basis and determined relative to open compensation standards. Happy to discuss what that would look like for you specifically during our interview process.
Equity package: Included in addition to salary.
The role
As Founding Engineer you'll help us define how we should use software to serve our biggest user needs and build our platform from zero to one. You’ll be the expert on our codebase and be an integral piece in defining the roadmap. You will scope the right projects, and be a core part in driving Marloo’s success.
In the years to come, you will dictate your own path. You can grow into a super individual contributor role or an engineering leadership role. You’ll be mentored by founders, investors, and operators that have done this before.
Must haves
Excellent full-stack / back-end coding skills. We prioritise talent over experience
Commitment to the core mission (you’re passionate about our product, driven by the mission, and excited by the technical challenges)
Strong understanding of business, product, and growth (we like engineers with a product focus)
Passionate about learning (you’ll go 0-1 multiple times throughout the company’s journey)
Values alignment (you are customer obsessed, focused on impact, curious, move fast, radically open-minded, and want to do no harm)
High-risk tolerance
A team-first mentality; you are interested in playing the long-term game with the other founding team members
Based in Wellington (or willing to move). Willing to prioritise in-person collaboration. Also able to travel internationally as needed
Nice to haves
Proven track record hiring, managing and developing talented engineers
Experience driving mission-critical milestones to get a startup to product-market fit
Experience in implementing robust security and data privacy infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
