About the role:

In this role, commonly referred to as an Electronics, Instruments and Radar (EIR) Technician, you will be responsible for the testing, maintenance and repair of more than 200 specialised electronic, mechanical and optical systems.

A key component of this role involves fault-finding and diagnostics to ensure all equipment is maintained to a high operational standard. You will work across a diverse range of equipment including:

· Vehicle and personal communication systems

· Optical and electrical weapon sighting systems

· Laser targeting and ranging systems

· Electronic weapons training simulation equipment

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be analytical, methodical in your approach to fault-finding, and comfortable working with complex technical systems. You will also bring:

· An electronic, electrical or mechanical trade qualification or diploma

· A sound understanding of electronic and RF theory

· General knowledge of optical theory (e.g. school-level physics)

· The ability to conduct testing and electronic repairs

· The ability to carry out mechanical repairs

· Computer literacy

Special Requirements:

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Secret Defence Secret Security Clearance by meeting one of the following criteria:

· A NZ citizen, OR

· A NZ Permanent Resident who has resided in NZ for the past 10 years OR

· A citizen of Australia, Canada, UK or the USA who has a current work permit for NZ

You will also be required to undergo pre-employment activities including drug screening and vetting by NZ Police.
