We are seeking a capable person to work part-time in our busy Materials Design and Technology workshop classrooms to manage the maintenance of workshop machinery. This work would be on the basis of 12 hours per week (predominantly during term time only), possibly with some flexibility for the days and hours of work to fit in with the incumbent’s lifestyle.

The successful candidates must have right to work in New Zealand.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in dealing with the maintenance of large wood and metal work machinery, including the ability to fix most faults

  • The ability to work to a preventative maintenance schedule

  • The willingness to be involved in other aspects of the workshop such as materials storage and preparation, if time permits

  • The ability to work efficiently and unsupervised

  • Knowledge and application of health and safety legislation

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • A willingness to be flexible when required

  • Good communication skills, especially with young people

  • A clean police record, with unquestionable honesty and reliability

  • The right to work in New Zealand
