Are you an experienced Test Automation Engineer who thrives on designing and delivering automation frameworks for complex, multi‑vendor technology environments? This is an opportunity to join a major technology programme that is rolling out a new, modernised ticketing solution across multiple transport modes. We’re looking for a senior automation specialist who can take ownership of defining the automation strategy, selecting the right tools, and implementing a robust suite of repeatable automated tests for a high‑profile technology platform.
About the role
This contract position will see you leading the end‑to‑end automation workstream — from approach and tool selection through to implementation, execution, and operational handover.
Key responsibilities include:

• Develop the test automation strategy and approach
• Define technical and functional requirements for automation tools
• Conduct market analysis and evaluate suitable automation toolsets
• Lead a product selection and procurement process
• Execute the automated test suite in the programme’s test environment
• Complete a full knowledge transfer and handover to operations

About you
You’ll bring significant experience and confidence in delivering automation solutions within complex technical environments.
We’re looking for someone with:

• 5–10 years' hands‑on experience in test automation
• Strong background in technical/interface testing
• Proven experience selecting, implementing, and embedding test automation tools
• Experience working with SaaS or hosted service platforms
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps automation tooling (advantageous)
• Experience in transport or ticketing environments (nice to have)
