Mō te tūnga | About the role
We have exciting and transformational work ahead that will strengthen the digital technology supporting Corrections frontline staff and the people we manage. As part of this work, the Electronic Security team is looking for an Adviser Electronic Security to help provide frontline operational support to our custodial, support and administrative staff across Corrections and Probation Services.
The Department has several key priorities in electronic security, including major projects in redevelopment, property, body‑worn cameras, communications, and work to address emerging threats. Your role will support the management of electronic security systems across their full lifecycle, helping ensure they are designed, transitioned, maintained and operated in a way that supports safe, secure and consistent operations nationwide.
Day to day, you will contribute to risk‑based assessments, help monitor system and service performance, review supplier delivery, and support the resolution of issues to ensure systems remain fit for purpose. You will build strong working relationships with internal teams and external providers, assist with change assessments, and help ensure our standards and process controls are current and followed. You will also track developments in the industry and support the team to stay informed about new technologies and emerging risks.
These positions are Wellington-based, however nationwide applications will be considered for the right candidate. You will be required to travel throughout Aotearoa, including occasional work outside standard hours and short periods away from home when required. A full New Zealand driver's licence is essential.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you'll have some experience working with operational processes and supporting control systems, as well as:
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, with experience building effective relationships across diverse groups
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical experts from a range of disciplines
- Experience in process analysis and in developing systems or process improvements
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in staying up to date with technology trends and emerging security threats
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $110,523 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $93,945 - $132,628 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
