Argest is a national leader in building compliance, partnering with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to deliver fire alarm upgrade projects for schools. We are expanding our Projects Team and are seeking a Project Manager to join us.

This role is suitable for either a Project Manager, or someone wanting to step into Project Management depending on experience.

About the role:

You will manage the full lifecycle of fire alarm upgrade projects for assigned schools and work to grow the projects side of Argest. This includes site assessments, Fire Reports, tender processes, contractor oversight, and project completion. The projects team is growing with space to make the role your own with projects that interest you.

You will:

· Conduct site assessments and complete compliant Fire Reports

· Manage projects to scope, budget, quality, and timelines

· Contribute to tender documentation and evaluate contractor responses

· Oversee asbestos assessments and related project requirements

· Build strong relationships with schools, contractors, and stakeholders

· Use project management and collaboration tools for effective delivery

· Stay current with regulations, industry standards, and MoE requirements

What you’ll bring:

Must-have

· Strong technical understanding of the New Zealand Building Act, Building Code, building consent processes, specified systems, building regulations, or willingness to learn

· Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills

· Strong risk management and attention to detail

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

· Comfort navigating systems, documents, and reporting tools

Nice-to-have

· Proven experience in project management (construction, building services, fire systems or compliance preferred)

· Experience with government contracts, schools, or regulatory environments

· Experience in fire safety design

Location: This position is based in Wellington. Our preference is for candidates who are able to work from this region, however there is some flexibility on location for the right person. This role requires regular travel to schools and clients across the country.
