Water Network Technician
Wellumio
About Us
Aqua Analytics partners with councils and water authorities across New Zealand and Australia to optimise water network performance, combining specialist fieldwork, consulting, and technology-driven solutions to help our clients reduce water loss, assess pipeline condition, and make smarter decisions about their water infrastructure.
We're a small, but growing company that does serious work. Our clients are some of the largest water utilities and councils in both countries, and we deliver to a standard that keeps them coming back.
We're growing our New Zealand operation and need a skilled field technician to join the team and help us do great work.
๐ง The Role
You'll spend most of your time in the field conducting acoustic leak detection surveys, deploying monitoring equipment, and delivering comprehensive, impactful water loss reduction projects for our NZ utility clients. Some of the work is local, some requires travel.
Day to day, you'll be:
Undertaking acoustic leak detection surveys across pressurised water networks using the latest technologies from leading global brands
Installing and maintaining IoT monitoring devices on water and wastewater pipelines to help clients better manage their assets
Reporting network defects to clients using our field platforms, GIS tools, and works management systems
Establishing and optimising District Metered Areas (DMAs) through minimum night flow analysis, boundary valve verification, and high-usage customer investigations
Supporting project planning, documentation, and delivery coordination
Managing your own HSEQ compliance in the field using digital compliance tools
Working directly with clients, you'll be the face of the company on-site
There's also the opportunity to work on projects across the Tasman from time to time; meet your colleagues, experience somewhere new, and contribute to the wider business. โ๏ธ
๐ What We're Looking For
Hands-on knowledge of water distribution networks and how they operate
Experience in acoustic leak detection, or a strong technical foundation with a genuine willingness to learn
Comfortable working in a small team where everyone contributes to exceptional outcomes
A professional, reliable presence on client sites; comfortable leading discussions with operators, engineers, and senior management alike
Happy to travel and spend time away from home when work requires it
Familiarity with smart water / IoT devices is a plus, not a prerequisite
Someone who takes ownership of their work and doesn't need to be managed closely
๐ง What You Get
๐ฐ Competitive salary
๐จ Per diem (travel allowance) provided when you're away from home
๐ฅ A small, direct team with no layers of middle management
๐ ๏ธ Access to the latest leak detection and monitoring technology, and purpose-built software to help you manage and deliver your work
๐ Funded professional development, specialist training, a phone allowance, and a genuine path to grow with the business as our NZ operation scales
๐ Work that actually matters, every leak you find is water back in the network for future generations!
