About the Role
Have experience on the tools? Want to help us maintain and improve rail systems? We have a permanent full-time available for candidates in electrical, mechanical, rail, industrial, automotive mechanic or similar, to join our Maintenance team in Wellington as Maintenance Mechanical Engineers.
Our Maintenance Mechanical Engineers are responsible for undertaking fault finding, maintenance, and repair of the Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) and Passenger carriages. This is a hands-on role, working along with other mechanical engineers and planners, in a team environment, and will involve shift work. With a guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week, your key responsibilities would include:
Carrying out routine maintenance work in compliance with the schedule
Executing the maintenance, fault-finding, repair, and incident recovery of assets
Carrying out maintenance and repairs to EMU including scheduled maintenance checks, out of course repairs, incident recovery and repairs, and other maintenance activities
Using sound mechanical engineering practices and safety standards
Adherence to health & safety compliance and regulations in a safety critical environment
Managing documentation professionally
Focusing on the security of plant and equipment
About You
The role is located in Wellington, and you will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate would have the following:
NZQA level 4 or 5 trade qualification or equivalent in an Automotive / Mechanical / Electrical field
At least four years of hands-on experience in maintenance, fault finding, repair and incident recovery
Experience working with relevant technical specifications, standards and practices
Involvement with heavy industry or the automobile industry or experience in locomotives, ships or similar
Being a registered / licensed electrician would be beneficial but is not essential
