About CentrePort

CentrePort is a modern port and logistics business based in Wellington, serving the needs of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our service connects importers and exporters from regional New Zealand to international markets by road, rail and sea.

We are a full-service port that needs to deliver consistent results for the region - we do this by making the best use of our diverse operations combined with our people's resilience and expertise. Our success is driven by listening to our customers and adapting to their needs, keeping our people safe, and by continuing to invest in sustainability for a long-term future as a key lifeline for New Zealand.

CentrePort believes its people are its most important asset. This means we're focused on empowering our people, improving their wellbeing, and providing them with rewarding careers.

The Role

Step into a role that blends hands-on delivery with strategic asset planning across one of New Zealand's most diverse infrastructure environments.

Joining the Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for further developing CentrePort's asset strategies while also delivering maintenance port wide, across a range of fixed asset types.

This is a great opportunity to work on a variety of assets while also satisfying your desire for continuous improvement. Working closely with contractors and specialist consultants, you will:

  • Plan and develop asset plans to ensure effective asset utilisation
  • Lead the delivery of renewals and maintenance (planned and reactive)
  • Drive improvements in systems and processes to enable smarter investment decisions
  • Partner closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Develop business cases and provide reports on infrastructure investment

About You

Driven, agile, and pragmatic you'll be able to work independently and as part of a team. Thriving in a hybrid capacity, a role that combines day-to-day maintenance delivery with longer-term asset strategy will appeal to you.

Whether you come from a specialised asset background or a broader infrastructure role, this position offers the scope to expand your experience across the full asset lifecycle. Either way, you will bring experience related to the following:

  • Asset, maintenance or project engineering
  • Environments involving infrastructure, operations or heavy industry
  • Engaging with contractors and / or consultants
  • Working with asset information systems (e.g. GIS or maintenance management software)
  • Budget management, project analysis and / or reporting

Bringing strong organisational and coordination skills, you'll enjoy balancing planning with adapting and be energised by responding to real time infrastructure needs, working within a busy operational environment. A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or asset management is highly desirable.

The Opportunity

We're developing and regenerating CentrePort. Be part of it and help shape the future of our port as we strive to be the port of choice in Central New Zealand.

Think of our port as a small city - you'll be exposed to everything from three waters, electricity and buildings through to critical operational areas comprising of pavements, marine structures, and other civil infrastructure.

At CentrePort, you will engage in interesting and diverse work and be part of a team that makes great things happen every day. We lead with our Values, and we're offering you an enviable work environment where you can be your best self.
